Funeral services for Pat Caprino will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012, commencing at 1:00 p.m., at the West Salem Foursquare Church located at 3094 Gehlar Road NW, in Salem, Oregon. A fire service funeral is planned and the public is welcomed.
Captain Patrick Caprino, an active duty firefighter with Salem Fire, died suddenly Saturday morning, October 25, after being transported to the hospital from his home.
Captain Caprino began his career with the Salem Fire Department in June of 1995 and was an integral member of the department. He has served in the capacities of firefighter/paramedic, Engineer, and Captain, as well as his most recent appointment as an Acting Battalion Chief. Captain Caprino was also highly skilled in technical rescue and was a team member and trainer in many of the department's special rescue teams.
Regarding expressions of sympathy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patrick Caprino Memorial Fund, at any US Bank location.
A media staging area will be provided at the West Salem Foursquare Church in the overflow parking area. See attachment for aerial view. All vehicles will enter the main parking area on Gehlar Road NW. Follow signs and parking attendant instructions. A media briefing is planned at the staging area and will commence at 12:30 p.m. Vehicles will exit the parking areas by traveling along the south exit road to Eola Drive. Again, follow signage and parking attendant instructions when departing.
