Salem Police Recover Stolen Vehicle used in Vancouver, WA armed robbery - Suspects Arrested After Chase

At 9:57pm, Thursday, 03/08/12, Cpl. Gamble located a stolen vehicle near Center St. NE and 24th St. NE with three occupants. The vehicle had been reported earlier being used as a getaway vehicle from an armed robbery in Vancouver, WA which occurred at approx. 1:20pm, Thursday, 03/08/12. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Salem on Saturday, 03/03/12.

A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle attempted to elude. A pursuit ensued to the area of 24th St.SE and Mill St. SE, where the three occupants fled the stolen vehicle, running away on foot.

Officers set a perimeter and three K9 teams began searching the residential area. One suspect was located hiding under a parked car by a K9 team, and was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Martin A. GONZALEZ. Gonzalez was transported to Salem Hospital where he was treated and released for an arm injury he sustained when jumping over a fence before hiding under a car.

Officers located a second suspect, identified as Alan ARMENTA of Salem. The third suspect was not located.

Both suspects were booked into the Marion Co. Jail on the following charges:
(S) GONZALEZ, Martin A. 21 yrs. dob: 04/13/90 of Salem.
Charges: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Attempt to Elude and a Robbery Warrant from Vancouver, WA.

(S) ARMENTA, Alan. 18 yrs. dob: 06/29/93 of Turner.
Charges: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

Vancouver PD will be continuing with the Vancouver armed robbery investigation.
